. -- As a way to help local residents prevent their personal financial information from getting into the wrong hands, Rep. Jim Marshall (R-Beaver/Butler) will again host an annual shredder event on Saturday, April 29.
From 9-11 a.m., residents can drop off documents at the shredder, located in the parking lot of Marshall’s district office, located in the Chippewa Township Municipal Building, 2811 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls
Free on-site shredding will be provided by Iron City Workplace Services, and the event is sponsored by UPMC Health Plan.
“Shredder events like these help people securely dispose of old paperwork and documents that aren’t needed anymore,” Marshall said.
Residents who plan on taking advantage of the free service should note:
- No large binder clips or hardbound covers will be accepted.
- Materials more than 1 inch thick will need to be broken down prior to being put through the machine. Staff will be available to assist.
- Materials may be transported to the event in boxes, bags or plastic tubs; however, only paper and cardboard will be handled by the shredding company.
- There is a limit of four boxes, or the equivalent, per vehicle.
Marshall noted that he will hold another shredding event later this year, on Sept. 9, at the Zelienople Airport.
