HARRISBURG – Rep. Jim Marshall’s (R-Beaver) legislation that would amend the First and Second Class Township Codes to help local townships by permitting them to purchase used equipment from another governmental unit without advertising and bidding was passed today in Harrisburg.

For many years, sportsmen and sportswomen in Pennsylvania have come together to help their neighbors in need by participating in the Hunters Sharing the Harvest program. This initiative allows hunters to donate their extra venison during both antlered and antlerless deer season to area food banks. Many wildlife management units in Pennsylvania offer multiple deer tags, longer seasons and special hunting opportunities that result in extra deer being donated by sportsmen and sportswomen.

The event will be held at the Chippewa United Methodist Church, 2545 Darlington Road in Chippewa Township.

BIG BEAVER BOROUGH - Rep. Jim Marshall (R-Beaver) today joined other elected officials, veterans from the Vietnam Veterans of Beaver County Chapter 862, their families, and H. Daniel Cessna, district executive for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Engineering District 11, in Big Beaver Borough for the unveiling of the sign over State Route 18 designating it as the “Vietnam Veterans of America Memorial Highway.”

HARRISBURG - The state House overwhelmingly passed legislation to institute the Castle Doctrine in a vote this evening. The Castle Doctrine legislation is a self-defense bill that allows Pennsylvania citizens to defend themselves, their homes and families with deadly force, without requiring them to first retreat from an assailant. Rep. Jim Marshall (R-Big Beaver) released this statement on the bill’s passage:
