Fallen State Trooper Honored at Bridge Naming Ceremony, Says Marshall
CHIPPEWA TWP – Bridge naming signs honoring a local Pennsylvania state trooper who died in the line of duty were unveiled yesterday during a dedication ceremony, said Rep. Jim Marshall (R-Beaver/Butler), who hosted the event.
The signs officially deem the bridge carrying State Route 588 over Interstate 376 in Chippewa Township as the TFC Blake T. Coble Memorial Bridge. PennDOT will soon place signs displaying the name of the bridge in both directions.
The dedication ceremony took place in Founder’s Hall at St. Monica Parish and featured presentation by the Pennsylvania State Police Ceremonial Unit and remarks from members of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 54, of which Coble was also a member. Coble’s wife and sister also gave remarks at the ceremony.
Marshall, whose legislation officially named the bridge in Coble’s honor, welcomed Coble’s family, friends and other guests to the solemn event.
“Trooper Coble dedicated his life to serving and protecting the residents of Beaver County,” said Marshall. “Each time drivers cross over this bridge, they will be reminded of Trooper Coble and all our men and women in blue who have lost their lives in service to our communities.”
Coble was a member of the Pennsylvania State Police for more than 24 years, and he had been attached to the Brighton Township barracks for nearly 20 years. On Oct. 4, 2012, Coble was critically injured when a tractor-trailer failed to stop at a stop sign and struck his patrol vehicle.
The bridge was officially named by
Act 73 of 2018, which incorporated Marshall’s
House Bill 834 and was approved by the General Assembly earlier this year.
